Shaklee Distributor in Dallas shares great results of weight loss.

When reducing weight, results that can be measured make a big difference.
Our Cinch Wellness Group is seeing results that are attainable and measurable. We meet each Saturday as a group to support each other and share ideas and options.

One participant has reduced her weight by 16 pounds in 9 weeks after her first measure. That is a safe way to loose weight the right way and keep it off. Not too much too fast.

There has also been a change in her eating patterns. She now shares meals with her husband, which helps her program and encourages him to cut back on food portions.

One of the biggest “aha” moments came when she stated that she no longer has the inconvenience, discomfort and cost of her Nexium prescription. The side effects of that drug are gone now, too.  The thing is, now she is feeling better and her clothes feel more comfortable than before. We are all sharing the joy of the results of each member of our group!
Think about what the loss of a few pounds can mean for you.  What health benefits would you experience?  If you’d like some help, give me a call.

Shaklee Distributor in Dallas offers ways to feel better about Thanksgiving eating.

Shaklee Distributor in Dallas offers ways to feel better about Thanksgiving eating.

Avoid the guilt and need for doubling your exercise program after Thanksgiving.  There are ways to enjoy the much-awaited meal and still maintain your self esteem afterward!!

Here are some tips to employ:

1. Eat breakfast. Your body will better process those calories if your metabolism is already trucking along from a healthy start to the day.
2. Serve yourself. Aunt Jean’s portion sizes might be different from yours. When you serve yourself, you can control what’s on your plate.
3. Know your weaknesses. Whatever it is, recognize your tendency to go overboard and limit yourself to one small serving.
4. Choose whole grain breads and skip the butter. You can get your bread fix with less calories.
5. Limit yourself to one casserole. Instead of sampling four, choose one.
6. Focus on turkey and green vegetables. The turkey’s likely the healthiest thing on the table.
Try to fill up half of your plate with turkey and something green, like sautéed green beans, broccoli, or salad.
7. Eat slowly. This is a no-brainer, right? The faster you eat, the more likely you are to overstuff yourself before you realize you’re full. Look at the clock and set a time you have to reach (try 20 or 30 minutes). Hint: Catching up with that long-lost cousin will give you something else to do besides chew.
8. Choose one dessert and keep it small. Pick one, have a small slice (no whipped cream!), and lick your plate when no one’s looking.
9. Watch the wine. Drinking alcohol weakens your will power. Be sure to drink plenty of water. Make a wine spritzer with club soda to keep from drinking too much.
10. Don’t repeat everything the next day. Save enough turkey for one great, satisfying sandwich, and send the rest of the food home with your guests.

Keep these tips in mind on Thanksgiving and you will feel good on Black Friday!

For digestion help, these items should be in your medicine cabinet at all times. My favorites are EZ Gest and Stomach Soothing Complex.

Shaklee Distributor in Dallas looks at micronutrients in popular diets.

Shaklee Distributor in Dallas looks at micronutrients in popular diets.

With two thirds of Americans overweight, it is no wonder that there is a proliferation of diet plans to combat the problem.  Some diets have pitfalls built into them, so we should examine them closely before going on a plan.  One such pitfall is the lack of adequate micronutrients-those vitamins and minerals.   Many diets focus on calorie count, fat counts or protein levels.

Results from the Stanford Prevention Research Center and the Department of Medicine, Stanford University Medical School, Stanford, CA, have shown this inadequate intake in four popular diet plans.

In the study, micronutrient intake was compared between overweight or obese women who were randomly assigned to 4 popular diets that varied primarily in macronutrient distribution-carbohydrates, fats and proteins.

The diets used were Atkins, Zone, LEARN (Lifestyle, Exercise, Attitudes, Relationships, Nutrition), and Ornish. Nutrient intakes were compared between groups at 8 weeks and within groups for 8-week changes in risk of micronutrient inadequacy.

Results: What was found was that differences were observed between groups for all macronutrients and for many micronutrients. Energy intake decreased from baseline in all 4 groups but was similar between groups. At 8 weeks, a significant proportion of individuals in all groups indicated a risk of inadequacy of micronutrients.

Conclusion: Anyone going on a weight-loss diet plan should pay attention to the overall quality of the diet, including the adequacy of micronutrient intakes.

Take a look at a complete, well balanced weight reduction program that focuses on all areas of health while getting the body composition (fat and muscle content) in the right levels.
The program I recommend is Shaklee’s Inch Loss plan called Cinch.

Shaklee Distributor in Dallas suggests going meatless on Mondays.

Shaklee Distributor in Dallas suggests going meatless on Mondays.

Meatless Monday.  It has a nice sound to it, right? Going vegetarian one night a week can be good for your body and it can save you money.

First of all, going meatless is not a license to eat outrageously.  The plan is to designate one night a week to things like fresh produce and whole grains. It doesn’t have to be Monday, but we think Monday is a great day to go light.  It starts your week off on a healthy foot, setting you up to be more conscious of how you eat the rest of the week.

Meat is a great source of protein. But many cuts—especially red meat—are often high in saturated fat and calories.  Plus, it’s probably one of the most expensive item on your grocery list.  Eliminating it once a week gives your wallet a break.  And putting together a balanced vegetarian meal will encourage you to discover new ingredients you might otherwise ignore.

Here are some tips:

Bulk up on the whole grains, which give you lots of nutrients and fiber.  Try brown rice or quinoa topped with stir-fried vegetables or whole-wheat pasta with tomato sauce and baby spinach.

Add beans! What a great source of protein they are! Scatter garbanzo beans over couscous with some wilted greens (like spinach or kale), a squeeze of lemon, and some feta cheese.  Make vegetarian burritos with black beans and grilled onions and peppers.

Embrace the egg. Eggs are inexpensive and they make any vegetarian meal heartier.  Add a fried egg on top of that brown rice with vegetables we talked about above for a perfectly well-rounded meal.  Make an omelet with lots of fresh vegetables and a few chunks of goat cheese.  Use egg whites or egg substitute to reduce the fat and/or calorie content of your omelet.

-Shake it up! Using protein shakes is also a great way to go meatless and still get the nutrition you need.  I often make a Cinch shake and pour it over cereal for an evening meal that is low fat, low calorie, high fiber and vegetarian.  It is quick and simple, keeps me satisfied for the evening and I am not headed back to the kitchen for a snack later on.

Shaklee Distributor In Dallas talks about the aging process and what can be done to slow it down.

Shaklee Distributor In Dallas talks about the aging process and what can be done to slow it down.

We all want to live a nice long life with vitality and flexibility a part of the aging process.  With the explosion of health technology, we Americans are living longer than before.  In 1950 there were 14 million people aged 80 and above.  That number rose to 102 million in 2009.  And as time goes by, the number of individuals who live to be 100 years old or more continues to increase.  People in this age group are increasingly more engaged, alert fully active members of society.

How does one get to be 80 or more years of age with relatively few disabilities?  What does science tell us that we can do to live longer, healthier lives?

Lifestyle choices play a big part in our longevity.  Experts suggest that only 30% of our lifespan is determined by genetic makeup and 70% is determined by good lifestyle choices.   The major determinants here are one’s activity levels, whether or not he smokes, his alcohol consumption, and whether he is at a healthy weight or not.
Most Americans die from complications associated with  chronic diseases, not an infectious disease or acute illness, which was so years ago.  The CDC reports that 50% of older adults suffer from high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or diabetes.  These put one at risk for coronary heart disease.  These risks can be greatly reduced by simply making modest lifestyle changes.

The goal is to live longer with a high quality of life of good energy and good health. The earlier one adopts healthier lifestyle behaviors the better.  One of the big factors that contributes to high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes and heart disease is being overweight and more so, being obese.
Keeping physically active, getting plenty of rest and eating right are key components of living a longer, healthier life.  Getting one’s weight in a desirable range with a body mass index of 25 or less is of utmost importance.
With a plethora of diets on the market, it is difficult to find the right one.  On a “typical” diet, when 12 pounds are lost, 5 of those pounds are muscle mass. This is not a desirable aspect because muscle burns calories simply by being muscle.  So loosing weight from muscle mass is counter productive.
One weight management plan that has been proven to maintain 100% of muscle mass while loosing weight from fat is the Cinch program.  If you’d like to know more about Cinch post a comment on this article.
Keep your muscle and loose the fat in order to maintain a good healthy lifestyle now and for your future.
