Dallas Massage Therapist says there is a simple way to get people to wave to you.
I often take walks in the morning.  Sometimes I do it in the evening. I may be praying or thinking about something in particular or I may be just looking around. Sometimes I play little games.
One game I really like to play is to see how many people I can get to wave to me. Remember this is in the morning and usually anyone who is driving at that time of day is going to work or taking the kids to school or both. They may or may not have had their caffeine fix. They may not have done their meditation or stretching exercises yet. All they know is that they are en route to something they “gotta” do.
So I wave. At first it was just a raised hand, with the palm facing out and a blank look on my face. I wasn’t getting many howdy-do signals back. Then I decided to add a smile to the mix. Not much of a change in numbers. I guess they weren’t looking at my face. Perhaps the caffeine had not kicked in yet.
I thought I’d ramp things up a bit. The next car that came by got a raised hand, a smile and. . . . .  .. … a side to side movement of the hand. That’s right a real, bona fide wave. I was amazed at the increase in numbers of responses I got just by moving the raised hand from side to side. What was up with that?
I can only surmise that the recipient of the actual, full-blown wave felt like I was really putting an effort out there to be friendly. I always get many more acknowledgements when I actually wave than when I simple give the ‘s’up (what’s up?) signal. It has been said that people are like human lie detectors; they can see through us like Saran Wrap. I think that is true. When we are truly trying to be sincere, people know it and respond to it appropriately.
So make sure all your encounters are sincere. Even those made only in passing. You will benefit from them more than you could ever imagine.
