Diets are very high on the list of topics these days. Many people are so fixated on the loss of weight, they loose track of the true goal: being healthier. While weight loss is a great goal, when not done properly, the work and effort is all in vain. Maybe a detox is better.
Diet vs. Detox
When toxins are in the body, which we all have a lot of them, the body produces fat to “encase” the toxin as a protective measure.
A diet that concentrates on weight loss can cause the toxins to be exposed when fat is lost (if fat is actually lost in the diet; oftentimes it is muscle that is lost in a traditional diet.) This exposure of toxins can have negative affects. It also means a higher concentration of toxins in a smaller body after weight loss.
Detox / Cleanse
On the other hand, when one goes through a cleanse or detox program, the goal is to rid the body of toxins along with weight loss. This will result in a lower concentration of toxins in a smaller body, which is the desired result. It also means the body will not re-enlist fat to encase the newly exposed toxins, as is the case with the typical diet.
The rebound effect is much less likely after a detox than that program that focuses only on weight loss.
If you find that fish are too expensive or you don’t like to eat fish, you might consider supplementing your food intake with fish oil. That can be a tricky proposition, what with all the the sketchy products out there. Make sure your choice is one that is free of heavy metals and other contaminates. Sometimes fish oil supplements will cause a smelly, distasteful digestion. Shaklee omega 3’s contain a very beneficial odor control component.
Maintain a healthy heart and cardiovascular system* with the concentrated, ultra-pure omega 3 fatty acids in OmegaGuard®.
Why fish oil?
Besides heart health, Omega 3’s are so beneficial for inflammation, joint health and even brain functioning. Do whatever you can to get omega 3’s into your diet. While eating fish is great, as mentioned above, it can be expensive and there is much controversy over the “cleanliness” of fish. Which is better, farm-raised or wild-caught fish? Using a quality supplement like OmegaGuard takes the guessing out of farm vs. wild and clean vs. toxic.
Why Shaklee fish oil?
OmegaGuard is cold processed to preserve the integrity of the omega 3 fatty acids. Because fish oil can contain a lot of contaminates, Shaklee takes extra care to use small species of fish that have a shorter life span and do not build up toxins. The processing operations include a triple distillation that maintains the viability of the fish oil and its benefits to the body. Buy it now!
We often eat the wrong things. And we often do that for way too long. This can lead to build up of toxins and other unwanted, dangerous substances in the digestion tract. These substances can even find their way into individual cells. This “infiltration” of undesirable elements can create the need for a good, thorough detox.
At this point, many people decide to do something drastic about undesirable symptoms:
low energy and
poor sleep quality
Often that “something” is a harsh detox program that is difficult to adhere to and feel good about. Some detox programs can be damaging to normal body functions, such as metabolism.
A safe way to reset the body is with the 5 x 5 Reset program. This is a 5 day cleanse that is easy to follow and it lasts for only 5 days. Participants report more energy, lost cravings, weight loss and/or inch loss and better digestion and higher rest quality. With added support from a closed Facebook group, the system keeps those “reseter participants” engaged and motivated to do their best, follow the guidelines and share their experience.
After the 5 days, there is an opportunity to maintain momentum and go forward with a transition program. Interested parties should contact this blogger for details because it will make a long term difference in health and vitality.
It is a challenge to get the planning, shopping and cooking done. It costs time and money. Not to mention if you are not inclined to spend time in the kitchen. Even when you do have plenty of time, money and inclination to cook, are you sure that what you are eating is healthy?
One solution I have found to get excellent nutrition for a very little time at a bargain price with no cooking and cleaning to do is with the Lean and Healthy Kitfrom Shaklee. It is so easy to have a smoothee meal.
A study done by recruiting firm Accounting Principals indicates that 39% of American employees are napping at work. The sandman must be working a day job!!!
But don’t call these people lazy. There are actually potential benefits from taking a nap, such as improved memory, creativity and cognitive ability.
If you are considering napping at work, set an alarm for 20 minutes. Sara Mednick, author of Take a Nap! Change Your Life, says that at about 30 minutes of sleep, we fall into the deepest form of sleep, slow-wave, and we may return to work in a fog. It is hard to adjust back to the real world if we wake in the middle of slow-wave sleep.
You might also look at the reasons why you feel the need for taking a nap. What has your diet been like that day? How much and what quality of sleep did you get last night? Are you on a regular exercise program?
Here are some helpful habits to develop to encourage better sleep that will help to eliminate the need for a nap at work:
☼ Eat a good breakfast with quality protein
☼ Have a midmorning snack that does not contain a lot of sugar.
☼ Make sure your lunch is a healthy one, avoiding beef, pork or other hard-to-digest foods.
☼ Get 7 to 8 hours of sleep each day.
☼ Establish a regular bedtime and stick to it.
☼ Exercise at least 4 times per week. Do this at least 2 hours before your newly established bedtime.
☼ Take time to meditate or just get quiet in your mind for 5 minutes per day.
